Call for Papers: Higher Education Institutional Research (HEIR) Conference 2020 (Brighton)

June 12, 2020

Call for Papers

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic we are adjusting some of the key dates in our conference timeline. Having considered current available information, the HEIR Network and the Brighton Conference Planning Group will review the situation again at the end of May, by which point in time we will make a definitive decision on whether the conference will be able to continue as we had planned and hoped in Brighton in September 2020.

In light of the current situation we have also decided that, if we are be able to proceed, our conference theme, ‘Strengthening HE Futures’ should also now reflect the new challenges we have all been dealing with over the past few weeks and an additional strand to include ‘Learning from crises’, will be added to our event.

Date: Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September 2020
Theme: Institutional Research: Strengthening HE Futures
Location: Grand Parade Main Building, 58-67 Grand Parade, Brighton, BN2 0JY
Register: Booking details available here.  Closes Monday 31st August 2020
Call for papers: Submission details available here.  Deadline Friday 12th June 2020

Welcome to the home of the Higher Education Institutional Research (HEIR) Network 2020 annual conference

The University of Brighton is delighted to be this year’s host and hopes that delegates will enjoy the destination experience as much as the conference content and engaging networking opportunities.

The HEIR Network annual conference is an opportunity for HE institutional research enthusiasts and practitioners to come together as a community to exchange knowledge, information and ideas.  The focus is on current challenges and opportunities, in order to enhance the use of institutional research, data analysis and evaluation, in supporting  efficient and effective HEI decision-making, planning and policy formation.

For HEIR 2020, the conference focuses on three key strands which highlight the many ways in which institutional research, evaluation and data analysis increasingly play a pivotal role in supporting institutional effectiveness and helping support and strengthen HE futures:

  • Enhancing learning lives
  • Enriching Data stories
  • Influencing policy
  • Learning from Crises
