Learning Analytics (for mere mortals)

January 26, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

(From the SHED email list – SHED is the staff developers network in Scottish Higher Education)

Students generate a cacophony of institutional data – registrations, VLE access, grades, quizzes, ebook views, video views, forum contributions and so on.

But how do you turn the “noise of data” into songs and symphonies of meaning? And who is the audience?

In this month’s free Future Teacher session (Wednesday 26th January 2021 1pm GMT) we look at the topic of “Learning Analytics for mere mortals”. We’re focused not on the technology but on the teaching, not on data per se but on the role of data in changing the learner experience by motivating, supporting, stretching, challenging.

As always, we promise (i) authentic practitioner input (ii) supporting resources (iii) acknowledgement of accessibility/inclusion (iv) lively text based discussion with a chance to hang around afterwards to talk in more detail.

Register here <https://xot.futureteacher.eu/play.php?template_id=4#la> and give us a bit of background about your learning analytics experience <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBBy-9vQl9C2XdU9BEnAG8IhQcBH7pBTUA4JGNAQJIY8RGYw/viewform> (very short questionnaire – 3 questions max).
